♦ Megha's Athidhi Indian Cuisine ♦
Megha's Athidhi Indian Cuisine finds itself the gold standard for Indian restaurants in all of Michigan, and it's so conveniently located near to Huntington Woods in the nearby city of Sterling Heights. The kozhi varutha curry is a really standout item on their menu, and we're also huge fans of the kothu paratha. The lamb hyderabad is just sensational, and if you love chana masala, don't miss that! The vegetable biriani was wonderful too. They've got a lunch buffet here, so if you're seeking a midday meal that's really filling and won't break the bank, this is an excellent option. ♦ Inn Season Cafe ♦
Inn Season Cafe is a special restaurant to make note of if you happen to be vegan, vegetarian, or seeking Kosher foods. We're absolutely obsessed with their mushroom soup, and the tempeh burgers are really fantastic too. The macro special is a particular favorite of ours as well. Wonderful breakfasts to enjoy here too, and no matter what you get, we would strongly recommend pairing it with a fresh carrot juice! Truly delish. There's a reason that this restaurant has been going strong for at least a couple of decades that we're aware of — it's the quality, the attention to detail, and of course the uniqueness of their dishes that keeps everyone coming back for more. Inn Season Cafe located at found at 500 East 4th in Royal Oak, Michigan.
♦ Thuy Trang Restaurant ♦
One that we love is Thuy Trang Restaurant! This place features both Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine, and we can't get enough of everything that they have to offer here. The pho nam te is out of this world, and the bun bo hue special is something that we have enjoyed many times. They've got delicious crispy spring rolls that will really treat your tastebuds, and you certainly can't go wrong with any of their basic stir fry dishes. The staff are great and always happy to help you find something good on the menu if you aren't too familiar with Vietnamese cuisine. Thuy Trang Restaurant is located at 30491 John R over in Madison Heights.
♦ Anita's Kitchen ♦
Anita's Kitchen is a haven of Middle Eastern delights, and we can never drive by this place without stopping for some chicken feta fattoush! We're also really in love with their shish tawook, and their red pepper hommous is something that you certainly won't want to skip. Their chicken shawarma is another one of our favorites, and we'd recommend the sandwich version of it for lunch. For dessert, don't even try to fight it you will lose just enjoy. So flavorful and delicious, and definitely unique! They've got a great outdoor patio here too that you'll really enjoy in the summer months. You'll find Anita's Kitchen at 22651 Woodward Ave in nearby Ferndale.
♦ Penn's Thai Kitchen ♦
Another excellent Thai restaurant in this area is Penn's Thai Kitchen. Not only have we visited this one many times on our own, but we have also brought our customers here many times. It's a very frequent request from them! And there is no wonder why. The basil fried rice will knock your socks off here, and the spring rolls are always an excellent starter. For dessert, the homemade coconut ice cream is the best choice if you really want our opinion — in fact we wouldn't imagine coming to this restaurant and leaving without dessert! Everything here is highly recommended. Penn's Thai Kitchen is located at 1800 W 14 Mile Rd in nearby Royal Oak.
♦ The Forest Grill ♦
The The Forest Grill is tops of our list of our favorite French restaurants in all of Michigan, mostly for their foie gras and veal cheeks, but of course the entire menu is superb. There's nothing that we wouldn't recommend to you here. It's great for your bigger occasions, because it's really a very special place to dine, and yet you won't have to break the bank to enjoy all that goodness. The charcuterie plate is a perfect starter, and the lobster ghocchi definitely should not be overlooked. Don't skip the risotto either! That is a clear favorite and it's often raved about by our customers. The Forest Grill is located at 735 Forest Ave in nearby Birmingham.
♦ The Fly Trap ♦
The Fly Trap is a retro diner that has been featured on many of your favorite TV shows on the food channels in recent years. They're really famous for their cool hipster vibe, and you definitely won't regret giving this place a try! The red flannel hash is a particular favorite of ours, and we can't resist their green eggs and ham (who knew that the secret was poblano pesto?!?). Seafood lovers will enjoy the salmon burger, and chicken fans will definitely want to try the charmoula chicken. The hamburger with smoked gouda is also nothing short of amazing. So many things to choose from here. The Fly Trap can be found conveniently in Ferndale, at 22950 Woodward Avenue.
♦ Peking House ♦
Chinese food lovers, listen up! Peking House has some of the very best Chinese dishes around. The garlic chicken is probably our most often ordered dish, followed by the General Scott's Chicken! That's not a typo, it's their special version. And we love it. They've got complimentary fried wontons here too, and everybody who goes there always remembers that about the place. And why wouldn't you? They are divine. The egg rolls are also really fantastic here, and even their chicken fried rice, as basic of a dish as that is, is quite noteworthy. Peking House is found in Royal Oak at 215 South Washington.
♦ Pita Cafe♦
Pita Cafe is yet another of our favorite Middle Eastern restaurants in the nearby Oak Park area. The crushed lentil soup is our favorite thing to start out with, and no matter what we order, we always make sure to slather it with plenty of their amazing garlic sauce. The chicken shwarma is of course a melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece, and their oven baked pita bread really completes the picture no matter what your main meal is. If you're a lover of shish tawook, theirs also comes highly recommended. Everyone that we know loves this place, and we feel confident that you will, too! Pita Cafe is in its familiar spot at 25282 Greenfield Rd in nearby Oak Park.
♦ New Lutong Pinoy ♦
New Lutong Pinoy is your source for the best Filipino food around. It doesn't matter what you order here — it's all fantastic. The old Lutong Pinoy restaurant had a turo-turo setup, and this one does not, but it's very nice anyway. We love the ambiance with the little waterfall and the lovely color scheme. It's very relaxing and you really feel like you're making a great escape from the day-to-day grind when you come here. Our top choice would definitely be the lechon kawali, with the incredible flavor of fried pork belly and their amazing dipping sauce. Also don't miss the daing na bangus, which is deep-fried milk-fish. Truly delish! New Lutong Pinoy may be found at 31101 Dequindre Rd in nearby Madison Heights.
