East Lansing, Michigan
has got to be one of the best places for drinking and dining in our state, so next time you find yourself in the zip code of 48823, make sure to call on a few of these, our favorite bars and restaurants in East Lansing!
♦ Sansu ♦
Sansu is an excellent sushi bar and Asian fusion restaurant that has a really modern ambiance that we love. The tables and seating are low, making it a very authentic feeling restaurant, so similar to the real thing that you'd find in Japan! They feature a full bar, and even a TV so you can catch the big game or whatever happens to be on TV while you're there. We are big fans of their specialty rolls, especialy the mango passion roll! Too good to believe. There are some cute names here too, such as the Stop Drop and Roll, which needless to say, brings some fiery heat! All of the rolls are quite enormous here, which is more of an American styled thing than a Japanese styled one, but we can't complain! More for your money AND for your tastebuds! Everybody also loves the bibimbap here. You can find Sansu at 4750 S Hagadorn Rd.
♦ Peanut Barrel ♦
The Peanut Barrel is just one of the greatest bars and restaurants of all time as far as we are concerned! It seems that everybody loves this place, and that includes us. You can find Peanut Barrel at 521 E Grand River Ave.
♦ Harper's Restaurant & Brewpub ♦
Harper's Restaurant & Brewpub is a great place to come in and sit down after a long hard day. You can enjoy some delicious craft brews as well as some really wonderful food. They do have outdoor seating that you'll really enjoy when the weather is good, and a full bar inside so you can get all your favorite cocktails and more. It gets pretty loud and boisterous here on the weekends, and we love that lively atmosphere. If you're dining in, try the olive burger with fries, and pair that with an ice cold beer of your choice. You'll love it! They also have really good long island iced teas, so good that they're known for them! Our sole complaint here is that they no longer allow people to throw the peanut shells on the floor. Bummer! But it's still a cool place to chill. Harper's Restaurant & Brewpub is located at 131 Albert Ave.
♦ Crunchy's ♦
Crunchy's is another one of our favorite pubs in the East Lansing area. We love coming in for happy hour to enjoy some great drinks at a low price, and the most fun days to come here would have to be Fridays and Saturdays in our opinion. They're always jumping with happy crowds! They have TV here so you an catch the game, and even karaoke on some nights for the budding (or not so budding!) singers out there. You will adore the burgers and the pizza here. Just a great dive bar where you can relax and let the cares of the world rush away. Cool place to hang with larger groups of friends too! Crunchy's is located at 254 W Grand River Ave.
♦ Beggar's Banquet ♦
There's something about the name Beggar's Banquet that we just love. They have everything here. Sunday brunch is a real joy, especially because the prices are so amazingly cheap! Everything is made from the highest quality ingredients so we're always wondering how they pull that off. But you know what they say about looking a gift horse in the mouth. The omelettes are fantastic and we love their home fries. They also have great dinner and drinks here, so you'll find that it's a very nice place to bring that special date for an intimate conversation over delicious food and drinks. We'd very highly recommend the sauteed chicken or the yellowtail tuna. Just perfect. You can find Beggar's Banquet at 218 Abbott Rd.
♦ El Azteco ♦
El Azteco is just a great place to grab some delish Mexican food. And they've even got a full bar! So you can indulge in your favorite margaritas and other cocktails along with your delicious burritos and enchiladas! Speaking of enchiladas, we would very highly recommend their blue corn enchiladas with spicy cheese dip. The topopo salad is another one of our favorite things here, being that it's so enormous and so wonderfully flavored. Some of the menu items here are a little more questionable than others, but sticking to the two that we just mentioned is a good plan. People love sitting on the outdoor patio and enjoying the warm summer months with a great beer and some tacos. The margaritas are also very highly recommended. We've had so many great times here. You can find El Azteco at 225 Ann St.
♦ Sultan's Place ♦
When you are craving Mediterranean food in East Lansing, you can't go wrong with Sultan's Place. It's true that it's tucked away in a strip mall and easily missed, but don't judge this gem by its cover. They have delicious lentil soup, fabulous hommous, and sensational falafel! The baba ghannouj is also one of our favorite things here. For an entree you cannot go wrong with teh chicken shawarma, and the walnut baklava is a really great choice for dessert. There is an excellent staff that really knows the menu inside and out, and they are always happy to help us find exactly what we are looking for. You can find Sultan's Place at 4790 S Hagadorn Rd, Ste 164.
♦ Dublin Square Irish Pub ♦
Dublin Square Irish Pub is not only one of the most authentic Irish pubs that you will find in the area, it is also one of the most comfortable. It gets pretty loud here on the weekends, and we love that lively atmosphere. Therei is also a dance floor for those who really love to shake that groove thang. The live music, when they have it, is always good. For an appetizer we'd recommend the baked brie, and the Strongbow on tap is always a nice choice when it comes to your beer. The turkey, brie, and pesto panini is also really great, and it's served with delicious kettle chips. Great ribs too and fish and chips that are good enough to be worthy of the official pub seal of approval. At least as far as we are ocncerned! You can find this one at 327 Abbott Rd.
♦ Woody's Oasis Bar & Grill ♦
Woody's Oasis Bar & Grill is both Mediterranean restaurant and bar, and we love that combination! They serve Stoli Around the World here, which is a combination of just about every Stoli flavor out there! Definitely not for the lightweights! Xingu on draft too. There are many vegetarian options here when it comes to the food, and lots of great choices for the meat lovers too. On Sundays you will certainly want to come in for a delicious brunch, especially for those three buck bloody marys! Can't beat that! The prices here are incredibly affordable, and that's just one of many things that really sets it apart from all the others. Woody's Oasis Bar & Grill can be found at 211 E Grand River Ave.
♦ Pizza House ♦
Pizza House has got to be one of the simplest names on this list, yet one of the most recommended in the area! Just like the name itself, they keep the menu pretty basic here, really specializing in what they do best and giving the people what they want the most! you may want to fill up a bit first on some of that delicious deep dish pizza! Or for something a bit lighter, try the thin crust! We like the fact that this pizzeria stays open later than most, and the ambiance is very nice, definitely higher end than most pizzerias in the area or elsewhere. A very nice change of pace from the typical. You can find Pizza House at 4790 S Hagadorn Rd.
