Brighton, Michigan

features so many incredible restaurants, bars, and live music venues. We enjoy all of the ones that you will see on the list below, and recommend them highly to you! All of them are within the 48114 and 48116 zips.

♦ Sushi Zen ♦
Sushi Zen gets such high marks from everyone that we know, so we finally had to head out there and give it a try for ourselves. The rolls here are so creative and so elegantly prepared. You'll also want to note that the rolls and nigiri sushi are much larger than what you'll find at most sushi restaurants, so be prepared for that! They have excellent tempura udon here if you're in the mood for soup and noodles, and they also have excellent gyoza, kalbi, and bulgogi. As far as the special rolls go, we would most highly recommend the sakura and the red wings roll, and the blizzard roll and the tiger roll are also amazing! Great drinks here too, very strong and good, especially the mai tai! Sushi Zen is found at 114 W Grand River Ave.

♦ Stillwater Grill ♦
Stillwater Grill is an American restaurant that we just cannot resist. It's true that the prices are a bit high here and the service can sometimes be a bit slow, but the fact that we are willing to overlook both of those says something about the high quality of the food here. We especially love the sirloin tips and french fries, and they do the calamari so well here. The seafood scampi is one of our absolute top choices here. Oberon lovers, take note, they've got it on draft. The only real downside to this place is that it's intensely popular, so you will often find yourself waiting a while for a table. Overall it's just a very pleasant dining experience here, and worth every penny as far as we are concerned! 503 W Grand River Ave is the place to find Stillwater.

♦ Boomtown Kitchen & Tap ♦
Boomtown Kitchen and Tap is such a cool little spot to go to catch the game and enjoy some delicious pizza and beer. If you love a good thin crust, you will definitely want to check this place out. Especially because they offer lots of creative toppings. The white bean dip appetizer is an excellent choice too, and they have really great burgers and grilled cheese here (on Texas toast with cheddar... definitely not your mom's grilled cheese!). Delicious chopped chicken salads too. If you do go for the pizza, we'd recommend their homemade fennel sausage as a topping, not necessarily by itself, but it's good enough to stand on its own if you do. Half off local beers and five buck burgers on Monday too! Boomtown Kitchen and Tap can be found at 9675 Village Place Road.

♦ Zukey Lake Tavern ♦
Zukey Lake Tavern is one of our favorite places to go for a Sunday brunch, with that unbelievable breakfast buffet that nobody can ever resist! Whatever kind of breakfast food you like, you are sure to find it on that buffet, and you can do it up however you like. Mmm mmm good! When you're there any other day of the week, you'll enjoy noshing on your favorite bar far, pizzas, perch, and beers, and they have a very nice rooftop patio on which to enjoy all of that! Complete with a bar. The coolest thing about this place is that they have a dock for boaters to come right up and grab their food, either dine in or carryout! If you're not a boater, that will make you wish you were. Everything is very good here including the ambiance and the service. You can find this location at 5011 Girard Dr.

♦ Burroughs Tavern ♦
Burrough's Tavern is the place for barbecue in the Brighton area! They have enormous portions here, so when you are in the mood for a really hearty meal, you can't go wrong here. The smoked meatloaf and the blackened wings are two of our favorite things here, and they also have really amazing brisket, ribs that fall off the bone, and great barbecued and grilled chicken too. Amazing sweet potato fries with cinnamon sugar, and how about that pulled pork too? We could go on and on about all the delights on this menu, but really what we recommend is that you go and try them for yourself. They have great ambiance here, perfect for dates or for hanging out in the bar with your buddies. Burroughs Tavern can be found at 5311 Brighton Rd.

♦ Sagano Japnaese Bistro & Steakhouse ♦

Sagano Japanese Bistro & Steakhouse is a nice place to grab some Japanese fare and sushi when you are in Brighton. Many have compared it to Benihana and we'd say that's pretty accurate. The restaurant functions as both a steakhouse and a sushi restaurant, and they handle both areas very well. The food is just excellent here. The only drawback is that all the noise from the teppanyaki side of the restaurant easily filters over into the sushi bar side of the restaurant, which isn't conducive to an elegant and quiet sushi meal. Still, it's worth putting up with, because the sushi is very good! This is not our top choice for sushi in the area, but it is our top choice for teppanyaki. You can find Sagano Japanese Bistro & Steakhouse at 312 W Main St.

♦ Ciao Amici's ♦
Ciao Amici's is one of our favorite places to go for Italian food when we are in Brighton, because it's so elegant and old fashioned. It's perfect for romantic dates as well as get togethers with family. The lobster risotto is our absolute favorite item on the menu, and the chicken piccata is a very close second. Try the chicken marsala too, and the parmesan whitefish. If you rent this place out for your private events we think you'll be very impressed with their buffet setup, and the ambiance just can't be beat. We've been very pleased with the service here, and sitting in the bar area is always fun too with the same high quality service as you'll find on the restaurant side. Very good desserts here too! 217 W Main St is where you'll find Ciao Amici's!

♦ Grecian Island Restaurant ♦
Grecian Island Restaurant is one of our top choices for Greek food in Michigan. This is authentic Greek food at its best. The Greek salad with chicken is truly the best that we have had in the state, and their flaming cheese or saganaki is just too irresistible. Yum! If you love lemon rice soup as much as we do, you will definitely want to check theirs out. Can't go wrong with the rice pudding either. There are some good American items here too that are still a cut above most Greek coney island fare. They actually have Sander's ice cream puffs here for dessert, which is a very nice change of pace from the typical. Located at that very cozy spot at 9994 E Grand River Ave.

♦ Cheryl's Place ♦
We have only visited Cheryl's Place for breakfast, but it was good enough to make this list on the merits of that breakfast alone! The portions are just enormous here, and you cannot beat the prices. If you are a coffee lover we think you'll be very impressed with theirs. The omelettes are excellent and we love their bacon and eggs. You'll recognize the building instantly by that castle exterior, but the focus is not on any theme here, it's on the food. Oh, and let's not forget to mention that they have those huge dinner plate sized pancakes here, which everybody loves! Your kids will be big fans of this place too. Lots of fun for families. Cheryl's Place is found at 4683 S Old US Hwy 23.

♦ Champ's Pub ♦
Champ's Pub is the spot for great burgers, fries, and drinks! We love to come in with a group of our friends and just enjoy the night. The service is very good here, very attentive and quick, and they have great clam chowder here too! Really great selection of beers on draft and in bottles too. It's nothing fancy here, just your typical neighborhood bar, and that's exactly why we love it. Low key laid back ambiance, delicious food, and great service... we could go on and on about that but you're better off just trying it for yourself and seeing what you've been missing! Everybody loves this place! You can find Champ's Pub at 140 E Grand River Ave.
